OUTBOUND MAMMOTH (formerly Sierra Nevada Resort) got a Great Makeover

I had a wonderful opportunity to stay at the Newly Remodeled OUTBOUND MAMMOTH (formerly Sierra Nevada Resort) in Mammoth Lakes, CA.  What an amazing renovation and transformation has taken place at this resort.  Keith Kirsten, General Sales Manager, told me that they have been working on a multi-million dollar renovation, with more to come, and it truly shows.   While there I also met Debbie Hildebrand, Sales Coordinator, who really is the Go To Person when you need something done (her phone never stopped ringing), and every  resort property needs someone like this that “gets it done.”

The lobby has a new warm feel to it, but still has the large inviting fireplace to the left, with new seating almost all the way around, and the other side of the lobby has these wonderfully comfortable small seating areas, making a nice area for individuals or small groups to sit, chatting or having coffee/tea in the lobby in the morning.  The 100+ year old bar is still there, with the back bar getting an uplift to the glass storage cabinets above the back bar.

Then you go into the rooms, and here is where the remodeling really shines with such a huge difference compared to what it used to be.  I was lucky enough to snag a fireplace king bedroom on the second floor, which also has a heated bathroom floor and a really spacious glass walled stall shower (easily big enough for 2).  The beds are new, very good, linen is clean and crisp, bathroom towels are cuddly soft, and the toiletries are top notch.  While wandering the hallways to get from place to place:  lobby to my room, on to the workout room, and hunt for the whirlpool (forgot my swimsuit – oh well), or out the back to my car, I had an opportunity to peak into the other types of rooms as they were being cleaned.  New carpets, new beds, bathrooms updated.  All have been updated, upgraded, and a very welcome change from the Sierra Nevada Resort I had stayed at some years ago.

There are also separate cabins on the property which are nice for a couple or small groups and when the snow FINALLY melts, I am sure they will be a welcome addition to this lodging properties opportunities to rent out.   Again with all the snow, could not even find the pool, but I am sure it is there somewhere.

Another interesting item, the restaurant/bar formerly known as The Rafters, is now part of the Sierra Nevada Resort property.  Renovated and upgraded, but with some of the old feel of a ski area bar and restaurant that has been around for all these years, thus they kept the charm and ambiance of the bar and restaurant that we all know and love, but with an interior face lift.   It opens at 4:00 p.m.

Last, but not least, for your breakfast and lunch needs, there is a crepe truck on the property.  WOW, freshly made crepes, breakfast ones, lunch ones, and of course, some dynamite dessert ones!   Their dark chocolate is fresh made on site, as well as their whipping cream (which also comes with flavors).   They open at 8:00 a.m. and soon, you will be able to take your items into the restaurant to eat.  Right now, it is all to go.  You could not ask for a better meal anywhere in town.

I look forward to going back to the Sierra Nevada Resort during summer so I can get the chance to see what the entire property looks like.  It will be amazing to see the vision they are making for this resort lodging property.
